The Care and Counseling Supervisor (with Clinical Psychology background) provides leadership and clinical expertise to ensure the delivery of high-quality, person-centered, and trauma-informed care and counseling services. This position combines professional clinical psychology practice with managerial responsibilities—overseeing onsite and online counseling, supervising staff, and contributing to service model development and research within SRHR, HIV, gender-affirming healthcare, harm reduction, and mental health.
1. Provide person-centered, empathetic, and non-judgmental counseling for clients accessing SRHR, HIV, abortion care, contraception, gender-affirming, and harm reduction services.
2. Conduct pre- and post-abortion counseling, psychosocial and psychological assessments, and develop individualized care plans.
3. Offer individual and group therapy to support emotional regulation, coping strategies, and behavioral change.
4. Integrate SOGIESC and gender diversity into all interventions, addressing stigma, discrimination, trauma, or substance use.
5. Coordinate referrals for mental health, ART, hormone therapy, and related services, maintaining accurate and confidential records.
6. Supervise, mentor, and build the capacity of counseling staff to ensure consistent, high-quality service delivery.
7. Conduct performance evaluations, ensure staff well-being, and provide opportunities for professional development.
8. Lead regular case reviews, clinical supervision sessions, and reflective practice meetings.ฃ
9. Oversee and ensure the quality, accuracy, and confidentiality of all client records and case documentation, both onsite and online.
10. Provide guidance and corrective feedback to team members regarding appropriate case documentation, data protection, and ethical recordkeeping practices.
11. Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for counseling, retention, and mental health care processes, including online documentation standards.
12. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (physicians, nurses, counselors, and program staff) to design and refine mental health and integrated care models responsive to client needs.
13. Serve as a mental health resource person for the organization, particularly in areas related to gender diversity, SRHR, abortion care, and substance use.
14. Contribute to the development of educational materials, client engagement tools, and outreach campaigns.
15. Support telehealth and online counseling operations, ensuring prompt, accurate, and compassionate virtual service delivery.
16. Support the implementation of research activities, including participant recruitment, assessment, and follow-up, in accordance with GCP and HSP standards.
17. Contribute to the design and evaluation of research and interventions related to mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
18. Support telehealth and online counseling operations, ensuring prompt, accurate, and compassionate virtual service delivery.
19. Support the implementation of research activities, including participant recruitment, assessment, and follow-up, in accordance with GCP and HSP standards.
20. Contribute to the design and evaluation of research and interventions related to mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.
21. Oversee the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of counseling data entries in the clinic’s electronic system.
22. Ensure compliance with data privacy, confidentiality, and security protocols, particularly for online counseling and telehealth services.
23. Coordinate with data management and M&E teams to review trends, analyze service outcomes, and improve data-driven decision-making.
24. Support clinic logistics, program promotion, and coordination of counseling activities.
25. Prepare reports, statistics, and analysis for program improvement and planning.
26. Coordinate referrals and partnerships with internal and external mental health or social support providers.
27. Perform other tasks as assigned.
1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any field of Clinical Psychology or Psychology, and a licensed Clinical Psychologist.
2. Additional relevant certifications in counseling, SRHR, HIV, or harm reduction are a plus.
3. Minimum 3-5 years of experience providing psychological assessment, therapy, and client support.
4. Experience supervising or mentoring counseling or case management teams is preferred.
5. Experience working with vulnerable or intersectional populations, including transgender clients, clients seeking safe abortion care, people who use substances, youth, sexworkers, or low-income individuals, is highly desirable.
6. Psychological theories, psychotherapy models, and psychopathology.
7. Psychological assessment tools and techniques.
8. Professional ethics and relevant legal frameworks.
9. Knowledge of HIV transmission, sexual risk behaviors, harm reduction, mental health, and sexual and reproductive health (SRH).
10. Understanding of gender, sexuality, human rights, stigma, and discrimination.
11. Ability to provide empathetic, non-judgmental, client-centered support.
12. Excellent interpersonal, documentation, and team coordination skills.
13. Proficiency with computer systems and online communication platforms.
14. Conduct assessments, manage risk, and improve service quality of the team.
15. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and document accurately.
