Monitoring and Evaluation Officer

The Monitoring and Evaluation Officer supports IHRI’s projects and research by managing indicator reporting, research data systems, and project evaluation activities. Working closely with the Program Manager, and relevant team members, the role ensures data quality, facilitates learning, and translates evidence into actionable insights to strengthen program performance and accountability.

1. Project Monitoring & Indicator Reporting
• Track project indicators in line with donor and institutional frameworks.
• Develop and maintain indicator dashboards and databases.
• Compile and validate routine monitoring reports with project teams.
• Provide timely updates to the Program Manager and relevant team members

2. Research Data Management
• Oversee research data flow from collection to entry, cleaning, and storage.
• Support development of data management plans and standard operating procedures.
• Ensure data confidentiality, integrity, and security.
• Conduct periodic data quality checks.

3. Project Evaluation & Learning
• Support the design and execution of project evaluations (baseline, midline, end line).
• Collect and analyze evaluation data in collaboration with research team members
• Document lessons learned and success stories for internal and external dissemination.
• Facilitate after-action reviews and learning sessions with teams.

4. Data Use & Knowledge Translation
• Analyze monitoring and research data to generate insights for decision-making.
• Prepare data visualizations, briefs, and presentations for diverse stakeholders.
• Support integration of evidence into programmatic planning and donor reporting.
• Share findings with implementing partners and community stakeholders

5. Coordination & Team Support
• Work closely with Program Manager and other team members to align M&E activities with research and program implementation.
• Provide technical support to project staff on data collection, reporting tools, and indicator tracking.
• Participate in team meetings, cross-team initiatives, and institutional learning activities.

1. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Sciences, Public Health, or a related field
2. At least 3 years of professional experience in monitoring and evaluation, data management, or applied research, preferably in public health, HIV, or related fields.
3. Hands-on experience with data systems (e.g., Excel, REDCap, or other databases) including data entry, cleaning, and validation.
4. Strong understanding of M&E frameworks, indicators, and logic models, especially in health and development programs.
5. Understanding of data visualization and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, STATA, or similar).
6. Ability to manage project indicators, maintain databases, and ensure timely and accurate reporting in line with donor and institutional frameworks.
