The Care and Counseling Officer (SRHR) will play a key role in supporting clients in making informed decisions about their sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), including abortion care, contraceptive options, and overall well-being. The ideal candidate should be empathetic, non-judgmental, and committed to providing client-centered care that respects women’s autonomy and diverse experiences. The Care and Counseling Officer should also provide integrated care and possess knowledge on emerging issues prioritized by IHRI including gender-affirming hormone therapy, harm reduction and HIV/AIDS. Moreover, the Care and Counseling Officer will help with the implementation and data collection in research projects that involve Pribta Tangerine Clinic.
1. Provide one-on-one counseling which using a person-centered approach to clients seeking abortion care, contraception, and other SRHR services.
2. Support clients in understanding their options and rights in a sensitive and empowering manner.
3. Conduct pre- and post-abortion counseling, including emotional support and information on follow-up care.
4. Collaborate with medical staff to ensure holistic, client-centered care is delivered.
5. Maintain confidential and accurate client records and documentation.
6. Promote a stigma-free and respectful clinic environment for all clients.
7. Contribute to the development of educational materials and outreach activities that aim to increase awareness of SRHR services.
8. Participate in capacity building development and training in SRHR and counseling techniques.
9. Respond to online clients on all clinic online platform in a timely manner with accurate information as well as deliver the lab results to clients who request online results.
10. Assist with site preparation, participant recruitment, screening, enrollment and follow-ups for assigned research studies.
11. Conduct data entry for all clients to the database system as required by the clinic and IHRI.
12. Perform other tasks as assigned.
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in any field. Our medical staff will provide training courses to ensure that applicants can deliver standardized care to clients.
2. Minimum 3 years of experience as a Counselor or Psychologist role will be prioritized.
3. Prior experience in sexual and reproductive health counseling or working with women in healthcare or community settings will be prioritized.
4. Applicants with experience of receiving abortion care will be prioritized.
5. Applicants with experience in policy advocacy for women will be prioritized.
6. Strong understanding of SRHR issues, including abortion, contraception, and gender-based stigma.
7. Ability to provide women’s health counseling including safe medical abortion and contraceptive use.
8. Ability to provide basic HIV/AIDS counseling including HIV PrEP/PEP, STI counseling, screening, and treatment.
9. Ability to provide basic harm reduction and substance use-related counseling.
10. Ability to perform basic screening and appropriate referral.
11. Ability to provide basic gender-affirming hormone therapy and trans health-related counseling.
12. Ability to provide basic mental health counseling.
13. Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team for both clinical service and research initiative.
